Youth Action Moreton Bay Initiative

Supporting young people aged 12-21 years

We’re here to listen and value the voices of young people in our communities—and work with them to achieve their goals.

Through YAMBI, our team provides individualised support to young people aged 12 to 21 (and aged 8-11 where an older sibling is also receiving support) including providing information, advice, referrals and supportive case management.

How YAMBI works

The support offered to young people and their families by YAMBI is driven by the needs of young people themselves and includes:

  • Supporting young people to achieve their goals in all areas of their life.
  • Empowering young people to access support and explore pathways so they can find the right services to meet their needs.
  • Helping young people and families work through challenging times, relationships or conflicts.
  • Working with young people when intensive support is needed like food parcels, court support, crisis housing or financial assistance.

Who can access YAMBI

YAMBI can be accessed by—

  • young people looking for support
  • family members, carers and friends looking for information to support a young person
  • support services and agencies that work with young people.

How to access YAMBI

  1. Make a referral to YAMBI using our online portal, which provides an easy, efficient and confidential triage process for referring partners, young people and their families.
  2. Our Youth Services team will be immediately notified when your referral is submitted. All referrals are triaged by the team to assess the information provided, the urgency and degree of risk and the person’s suitability for the YAMBI program.
  3. A YAMBI intake officer will contact both yourself and the young person being referred to discuss the support available through YAMBI, our wider Younity programs or a partner service.

Our aim is to ensure that no young person falls through the cracks. While we have a high demand for our services, our intake triage model enables us to connect young people with services and support that are appropriate for their needs.
